Back home

Well, here I am.
I survived my Kentucky guest spot.
Actually,
I THINK I'LL MAKE A BLOG POST ABOUT IT.

I left early Thursday morning and showed up to Lucky Lady tattoo in fabulous Richmond, KY. Lucky Lady was a really nice shop (minus the lack of wifi) and it was fun to see Rob again. This was my station for the next few days. Classy little set up!

This was one of the first tattoos I did while in Kentucky. This one went on a real life lesbian! I had fun with this one but I was still kind of sad knowing that this tattoo could never come close to being nearly as amazing as the peace sign tattoo she had on the top of her arm. All I can do is reach for the stars.

Ok, Kentucky. I have to give you props.
Your liquor stores are awesome.
These places are huge, it's like a K-mart with nothing but booze.
Automatic glass doors, 6 check out lines, drive thru windows, and last but not least; aisles and aisles of the finest corn squeezin's Kentucky has to offer.
I bought a six pack of pumpkin ale and accidentally left it at Rob's house.
Fuck.

What the fuck. I paint a flash set over a year ago and no one has got any of the designs tattooed on them. I take 4 out of my 5 sheets from that very set to Kentucky and I'm tattooing these designs the second day i'm there. This was one of my flash pieces committed to flesh.

We partied pretty hard on Saturday night. We went to a really rad bar called the Paddy Wagon that was filled with hipster nerds and tattooed babes. We met up with a handful of other tattooers to hang out with and have some drinks. We closed that bar down and ended up hanging out in an auto garage somewhere in town (???) The picture above is from a secret room attached to the auto garage. There was a door made of out of a big bookshelf with tons of stuff all over it. I would have never guessed. The secret room was set up like a bar. Weird.

Having a cigarette for breakfast on Rob's porch observing my surroundings. Half way houses, frat houses, and a very obvious drug house a couple of houses down the street. Serene.

The last day I was there I got to do another one of my flash pieces. This was a lot of fun to do (I'm stoked someone finally did this piece!) After that, I got a tattoo of a sweet pyramid with a bunch of eyes on my leg before dropping Rob off at his house and making the nearly 5 hour drive home by myself in the middle of the night.

I learned a lot, I did fun tattoos....it was fun.

Fun Facts:
-Rob's wife is a very good gilded ceramics maker. They sent me home with a cool mixing bowl and 2 coffee mugs that she made.
-I can get to Richmond, KY on only 3/4 tank of gas (what!)
-Rob used to hitch on trains and travel the country when he was younger. I didn't know that.
-I stopped at the creepiest gas station in KY when I was coming home. THE CREEPIEST.
